It is with sadness that we report the unexpected death last week of one of our members, Edie Harbord, who ran Gardening and Reiki in Eden. Edie was a lively lady who was very enthusiastic about her business ventures. She also gave a very interesting guided talk as part of the NEWS Summer Outing to Caldbeck in 2009. Edie has been a member of various RWN groups for many years and will be greatly missed.
Edie's funeral is at Carlisle Crematorium on Tuesday 20 April 2010 at 10.15am.
Sylvia Marrs (ex- Chair) has been announced as the National Landlords Association North West Property Woman of 2009! The NLA Property Women Awards celebrate the most effective and influential female landlords in the private rented sector today.
Sylvia collected her award in London on 23 July 09 at a prestigious ceremony dinner hosted by TV presenter, Melissa Porter, and has already been contacted by Radio 4 for an interview...

Lesley Beattie joined in July 09, and within three days was getting traffic to her website via
Lesley, who is a distributor for Forever Living Products (FLP) was delighted, and said:
"On joining I sent you an entry for the Member Directory. I am developing my webpages, so know they will not feature high on Google search lists yet...
So imagine my surprise when 3 days later I received traffic to my website via (from Page 1 of a Google search for Aloe Vera products in Cumbria!) People can find me and link to my website, even though my search engine optimisation is not complete yet. Even before attending a meeting and networking with other members has given me instant promotion and fast results! Thank you... "
Rachel and Jo Miller ( members) are celebrating after acquiring Active Designs, an award-winning manufacturer of educational toys for schools. The new business will sit well alongside Twoey Toys, which manufacturers educational toys and furntiure.

Hazel Duhy of Woodrow Services, Administrator of the group, has been elected to the North West Women's Enterprise Forum to represent Cumbrian businesswomen and microbusinesses. Hazel will also manage the growing group of Women's Enterprise Ambassadors in Cumbria.
